"Alien Resurrection" and so ends my Alien marathon. Feels like I've been dating Sigourney Weaver for the last 2 weeks. I loved that they went back to the action element that James Cameron had introduced in "Aliens," so basically you have the 1st and the 3rd resembling Ridley Scott's style; and the 2nd and 4th reflecting Cameron's style of directing. What I liked most about this one were the characters. Each character was unique to the pacing of the movie. Gary Dourdan and Dominique Pinon were my favorites, especially when Dourdan's character strapped Pinon's character to his back. Along with his twin shooters attached to him, made Christie pretty BadA$$! He basically was Dead shot from Suicide Squad. Along with Ron Pearlman and Winonan Ryder, this installement had pretty much an all star cast.
I think the puppy dog human alien Hybrid was gross; but yet, I think this was the first Alien I felt bad for. Yes he had to be put down... But the way Ripley had to Do Him... Wow. 20 years later, rewatching this scene still made my eyes want to water. They Vacuumed an infant the size of a horse, through a hole the size of a door knob!!!😔👀
Also you know what else is Sad? EARTH!! EARTH IS A SAD PLACE! I mean, technically the audience never had a peek at Earth since this Alien franchise began "basically." Now when we finally get a chance to see it, it looks like Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump had a field day with Nukes! Literally Paris looks like a wasteland. You know what else is more depressing, we finally get to see Ripley on Earth... And its 255 years since Alien1. No family remain, not anything. Heck, not even Weyland Corp is around after all that time. No wonder they want to do a part 5 that coincides with 3 and 4, because they've pushed the time boundaries to a very reasonable limit for Ripley. At the end credits it said play Alien Resurrection the videogame for Playstation...1. 😁Oh and that particular game said to have introduced the twin analog controls for 1st person shooters. So this may have been the mother of all FPS ganes people!
Well I guess I can take a stab at Alien Isolation one day soon . At least on there, we get to see what Ripley's daughter had to go through before she died in her later years. Isolation is based 42 years before before "Aliens." Yet another sad fact, Ellen Ripley had been frozen in sleep for 15 years when this game took place; and still would not be found for another 27 years. Her daughter Amy would be dead 2 years before she is found 😔 Dead from cancer at age 66.
Well... Time to move on Aliens. Its been a blast.
"Game Over Man, Game Over!"
