"Logan" 2017... From my perspective as a movie buff, a fan of the series, and being an independent movie/comic/cartoon maker… this film was PERFECT!!!!

Hopefully you have seen this movie by now… if not, this is a massive spoiler warning!!!!!
So where the Heck are all the Xmen!?!? Right, many fans of the Logan comic would recognize this plot device, yea… basically all dead. Yep, all gone. Yet their deaths are not by the hands of Wolverine, but instead, by the diseased brain of the aging Charles Xavier, pure accident of course...but dang :( So this movie automatically sets the depressing tone, even from the trailers. So I thought when they first introduced Laura (aka X-23) in the movie,I thought she was adorably great for the portrayal. I mean, I never imagined X-23 would steal the show from Wolverine in any movie imaginable; but this little girl ROCKED IT!

Basically this movie became a gore-fested road trip. When they met up with Eriq La Salle’s family, I knew it was gonna spell out significant, major loses… but at down time I chose to run to the restroom, only to return to a Farmer’s Death Fest! Wife, Child, and Husband Dead and critically injured. I thought I was looking at Sabertooth for a second, nope. It was X-24 a Feral version of The Wolverine. What hits me close to home was when I saw Professor Charles Xavier… once again on his death bed! 11 years ago, we had to bear witness to a death just as harsh to watch as this one, when the Phoenix “supposedly” Disintegrated Charles in mid air. Yet, this was quickly remedied by the vague “Xavier still lives” post credit scene; but this time, based on the grim nature of this film, we knew that this was it for our beloved Wheel Chair Psychic character… for reals. Honestly after his loss, his absence in the film was truly felt, and it was truly sad… and very quiet. Also with the self sacrifice of Caliban, the sadness layered up; as we knew that he would never see Logan and Charles again since his kidnapping.

As the Green juice is given to Logan to keep him healing longer over time, he is warned not to take the entire bottle… or it will kill him. The very adamantium that has saved him so many times, was now the very thing that was slowly poisoning him to death. So when the battle ensues, I knew what was coming… I’m sure mostly everyone did.

Yep, He had injected it all.

Yet, that final battle was very nerve wrecking, because I truly felt that it was something that those kids (with all of those abilities,) could have done to save Wolverine before his ill fated Branch Skewer. One could argue, “but their just kids.” Well… tell that to Donald Pierce, they merc’d the mess out of him… like with all of their abilities all at once!!
In the end of the day, I still feel that this movie was truly special. They obviously are aiming at making it Canon with the X-Men universe, which I could argue that maybe they shouldn’t. Yea, they would have to go back and play with time again for sure, but I truly feel that this should be a strictly “What if?” type of deal. I will touch on that in a sec, but with Hugh Jackman being tapped out from the Wolverine character, I think they should sit back and rethink the direction that they REALLY want to take the universe into. Oh and darn you Jerry Seinfeld for helping sway Jackman’s perspective on playing Wolverine longer, here is some info on that from Wiki…
Jackman has also explained that Jerry Seinfeld has convinced him to quit the role stating, "He said to me, when you’re creating something it’s very important not to run yourself dry. It’s not about finishing on top, necessarily, but making sure you’re, creatively, still got something left, which propels you into the whatever’s next."
Ryan Reynolds probably won't ever get him to come back for a Deadpool, which I’d love to see, but actors got to do what is best for them and their career paths. I am thankful to have had him and Patrick Stewart for almost the last 2 decades in the franchise, so I’ll take that as a win! Also, Stewart mentioned that this would be his last time playing Charles Xavier… he made his decision during the ending of the film as him and Jackman watched…

“And then this is what I felt,” he recalled as he grabbed Jackman’s hand. “I swear, that was what happened. Hugh held my hand. And of course, I was done, I was finished. Just weeping and sobbing. But then we had to wait for the credits to roll before we could go up on stage and be introduced. And while the credits were rolling … I realized if this is the end, there is no more perfect and beautiful way to say au revoir, goodbye, adios, than what had just happened. So, I think it’s the end for me too.”

I would definitely agree with him. Although he admitted some time afterwards that he would be down to be on Deadpool 2, or make a cameo on Legion. These projects would be fun, and not seriously emotional, this would give him a memorable final performance for all stages in the X-Men universe, neither would be more or less important than the other, but it would be great to see him on a happy note, rather than a sad one. I mean, that’s sort of why “The Talking Dead” exists. ;-)
So touching back on the being Canon, with the rest of the recently resetted universe of the franchise… I think this should be a standalone film; What If style, or a different Universe Plot. This is why, and I mentioned this before on other posts… We’ll know how it all ends ALREADY! If they choose to make this canon, and it sounds like they have. They said they wanted to show Mr. Sinister connections to the creation of X-23, and possibly the creation of other children involved as well. It’s just, dang… after all they have been through… THIS, THIS film Logan? I still feel it is overall worthy of privilege, but an ultra Depressing End for the X-Men and fellow mutants to come. They can bring out 5 more movies that are Canon to this… but it will most likely be in the 80’s, 90’s, or 2000’s. That means, unless they play with time again like in Days of Futures Past, then all their efforts will still end with the sad ending of the last two X-Men to walk the Earth… Professor Charles Xavier, and of course… Wolverine L This takes place in 2029, so after all the wars and battles… they lose to the exploits of Zander Rice!? :/

Anywho, great film, and if for some reason you read this, and haven’t seen the movie… Sorry, but I warned you of the spoilers! :P
The little big kid named Bobby running through the woods SUPER FAST, and when Laura first talked… Soooo Cute.
I really felt like I was looking at a mirror… thought I was looking at a weird adaptation of my Dad, Daughter, and Myself on the Big Screen! Minus the Claws and Super Powers of course… but those different attitudes; there all day! lol
Thanks for Reading!
