So i have finally put Ghostbusters 2 under my belt for the new age. Just like the first installment, this one is timeless; and once again that Bill Murray is firing on all cylinders. This time Rick Moranis implemented just as much laughs as the main cast did (too bad he turned down the cameo for the reboot. He said it didn't make sense to him to film for one day on a movie he did 30 yrs ago.) BUT, who doesn't love a good cameo by Bobby Brown while his song "On Our Own" from the soundtrack played in the background? Heck, just like the first film, this soundtrack delivers a heavy sense of Nostalgia. I'm pretty sure this is what inspired the happy 90's upbeat sounds of the Tahiti tracks for "The Real Ghostbusters" just a year later.
Even Earnie Hudson's character was given more of a direct involvement in his supporting role. As we all know, that fell short on the first movie... For whatever reasons from the Studio. Now, since I have refreshed my motivation for everything Ghostbusters; I shall be playing The 2009 Video Game... Which is Essentially the truest sequel to the originals, that we may ever get in my lifetime. I have no problem with that... I had made it 3 quarters of the way through that game, right before my Xbox 360 hard drive crashed on me, and I lost all my memory.
Anywho, it was nice to see Slimer not get trapped this time, and become sort of the defacto Ghostbuster, along with Louis Tully of course. I also think this directly sparked the cartoon itself to indulge in Slimer being an official part of the gang. If you haven't watched this movie in almost a decade... Watch it now, you still won't be disappointed; like forget about the final battle...
Just come for the Climatic Walk of the Statue of Liberty ... Led by Jackie Wilson of course.
