"Batman and Harley Quinn" 2017. Let me just start off by saying, welcome back DCAU! Yes, we have had The Justice League & Teen Titan Reboot storylines... But we haven't revisited the well pioneered universe that the 1992 "Batman: The Animated series" set up; and I'm pretty darn sure we haven't heard back from that particular Universe since 2006 (Justice League Unlimited series Finale,) over 11 yrs ago as of this post! So I'm gonna do everyone a solid, by not condemning this movie on the obvious; like the shallow storyline and over the top, sometimes forced sexual language and situations. Nah, I'm gonna focus on what really makes this fun and enjoyable to watch... Keeping it real, this movie is pure fan service of what once was, and may never be again in it's entirety. People wanna nag on the animation... Well, it's in continuity with the DC Animated Universe of The 90's, with the resurfacing of original 1992 Batman designs; including original Gotham, Bat Mobile, Bat Wing, and MANY character designs. In my opinion, I believed that the writers wanted to also keep their original viewing audiences in mind. Anyone from the 80's and 90's that really indulged in their Universe, and now that are pretty much grown these days. So even though not necessary, they wanted to give us the Harley that most kids and teens thought of when viewing 90's Harley, especially when she was out of costume... They wanted to finally give us the 100% naughty, yet Bad A$$ Harley that we've gotten accustomed to in the last recent years. That what she really was back then, but there was no platform, nor popular demand for Harley back then to really explore it, not beyond kids television.

So although it was a little obscure to watch Nightwing and Quinn have their moment together (Although the whole “Night Wig” thing was hilarious), it was definitely funny to see Dick Grayson get caught up by his Father doing something completely off the books. Dick's reaction after Batman realizes what really went down... priceless.

Then, there’s the 10 minutes or so that pays major homage to all the Batman series of the 90s including "The New Batman Adventures," and even a rare crossover to the 1960’s Batman with Adam West. This includes the original Catwoman’s henchmen, and a fun Spoof of The Batusi! After Two Face’s thugs, Min and Max's awesome performance of "Don't Pull Your Love," Harley Quinn sings a number "Hanging on the Telephone," this happened in a similar setting, with a different song in season two of the 1992 series.

Then of course, to let us know for a fact that this is still the universe of Justice League Unlimited, they later are on the comms with none other than Booster Gold! As many people think, in the wake of potential worldly disasters, call the Justice League... Nope, they’re literally all busy in other galaxies or even social parties. Booster then offers to call several C List Characters, before nominating himself... they hung up on him by faking static with paper crumbling.

So yea Plant Master and Poison Ivy wants to turn everyone into plant people... to save the world?  Yep, that’s the plot. Like I said before, enjoy the fan service as is, if you want story and seriousness... Look to the new reboots. I mean, the ending was even as anticlimactic as you can get, with an ending so abrupt and comical, Adam West Batman and Batman The Brave and the Bold would have been proud to witness.
