If you haven't seen "Attack the Block" yet, then you are missing out on one great action, adventure, horror -comedy, Sci-Fi Creature Feature! Yea, I'm gonna go out on the limb and say that this may be one of the best (if not, the best) in its genre! I mean, from the Writer and Director of TinTin, Hot Fuzz, and Ant-Man; would you expect anything less?

It is an awesome thing to see where John Boyega got his start, and I truly can see why he was casted in the new Star Wars franchise! I mean, that guy has so much life in his facial expression alone; he can easily invoke sympathy, empathy, anger, fear, and even happiness (when he smiles), all without saying a word. Yea, he showed that entire range in this movie alone.
Boyega leads a rat-pack gang of misfits against an Alien Invasion, the casting was right on the money with recruiting these mouthy, ecstatic teenagers. They were a lot of fun to watch; plus hearing their British slang n accents added a much needed twist to my normal style of viewing!

The premise was simple... Kill All the Aliens! Yet, it became much more complex than that with a much appreciated second antagonist in the film... The drug dealer. The Comedy managed to lurk almost around every corner in this movie, but along with the action it managed to go hand in hand.
The soundtrack was great as well, and became one of The Biggest reasons why this film succeeds on many levels, sometimes a great music score can make or break a flik; this was a make! Outside of being Boyega's breakout film, and Cornish's directing start, this was also Steven Price's movie score debut; he went on to win an Oscar for the movie Gravity... And I can understand why! Along with great scoring came several songs that made this film more enjoyable, including: "Sound of da Police," "Youths Dem Cold," and my personal favorite "Get That Snitch" (performed by the drug dealer antagonist, Hi-Hatz!)
Some of the Elements in this movie reminds me loosely about the plot line of "The Warriors," and technically the gun factor was kept at a minimal (just like the Warriors); which for these type of films, I can appreciate getting creative with other weapons, more than writing ton of artillery into the script.
Boyega plays Moses, and he rightfully holds his own as the one to lead his group to Salvation by any means necessary… All for the Block!
Oh... And Nick Frost is there... He is always a fun joy to watch on screen, can't have one of these movies without him!
This is a must see, instant cult classic in my opinion!
